Wow, I swear I'm not the crazy cat lady

But I just got back from the vet with the little munchkins, and I haven't updated in a few weeks, and ... fine. I'm a crazy cat lady and I'm going to own it.
Both kittens are happy and healthy. They've seriously doubled in size (or so it seems). They are about 13 weeks old (give or take) and weigh in at 5 lb 5 oz (Smokey) and 5 lb 4 oz (Bandit). The vet took one look at Bandit's ginormous feet and said he was going to be a huge cat. He's a little smaller now, but I definitely think that's true. The feet will be posted as soon as I get around to downloading some pics off of my camera.
In other news, I just spent a relatively scandal-less week in Vegas. This is likely b/c (1) I went with family, (2) strippers depress me, and (3) I'm kind of lame. I had a lovely time though. I spent tons of time reading outside under a little cabana thing to avoid that whole skin cancer thing, dipping into the pool every 1/2 hour or so to cool off from the 98-104 degree temperature. I feel like a tool saying this, but it really is a dry heat ;) Having lived on the east coast with upper 80s plus upper 80s humidity, I'll take a dry 102 any day of the week instead. Got back to the Bay Area around noon today and it was a breezy 70 - perfectly pleasant. I'm psyched that I planned to have the weekend to re-adjust to home before work again on Monday.
I think I need to figure out camping sometime soon. I wonder who I can con into going with me...or maybe I'll just head out myself (to a reasonably well-populated, cell phone receiving area where I won't die of course).
Anyway...off to sit on the porch with a glass of wine and make my farmer's market shopping list for tomorrow morning. LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

New York state of mind

So did I miss the memo, or is it suddenly attractive for middle aged women to wear stretch pants (oops, I mean "leggings") with ugly knee-high boots and babydoll dresses? That's pretty much hideous on anyone, but made all the more sad and uncomfortable by women who are trying so hard to be 30 years younger than they are.
Otherwise I'm loving my mini-vacation to New York City and will post more later.

Check out the piece of crap propaganda put out by a group called "America Forever" - btw, in case you didn't know, apparently teh gays don't want "America" to last forever.

* How may fonts were actually used in that ad? I lost count around 12.
* How unsubtle was the mixed race gay couple? Not just homophobic, but also racists.
* They used the word "backdoor" in that ad...closeted much?
Any other brilliant observations?

Seriously - god doesn't care.

The 4 minutes of the Super Bowl I watched involved several players (mostly the Cardinals) pointing to the sky and otherwise indicating either thanks to god or glory to god in their pass/reception/run/tackle.
Seriously?
God doesn't fucking care about your game. He likewise did not give you a Grammy, an Oscar, or your own reality tv show. Those who believe strongly in god usually also believe he (and such folks generally go with the "he" type of god) - he is all powerful, etc. If god has that kind of power, do you think he's wasting it on your fucking sporting event? Really? Of all the billions of people in the world, with all of the strife and war and famine and whatnot, you think he's watching the Super Bowl?
Actually, that could explain a helluva lot. God is too fucking busy watching the Super Bowl and other trivial shit, so we have like 12 wars going on, civilians dying, an economy in collapse, no health care for tons of people. Damn. I think this mean's that god's priorities are fucked up. Or perhaps GOD DOESN'T FUCKING CARE ABOUT YOUR SPORTING EVENT.
